Gender and Age Data of Social Network Users
I found some Interesting data around the gender and age of the social nework users.
- Between ages 14-24, there are more female than male users on all major social networking sites
- Between ages 24-34, you can see shifting from male to female as the majority users, Specifically Flickr, Hi5, LinkedIn, and Friendster
- From ages 34 – 44, we can see the reverse trend as female social networking users become slightly less than male users . Since this is the popular age group for people to get married and start a family, perhaps women are busier juggling between work and family. hmm.. perhaps men should be encouraged to help out more around the house so that women can spend more time social networking. Just kidding, or am I

Another Giant wants a piece of the web building biz.
Looks like Google is aiming to become the go-to place for creating Web sites too. Last year, Google acquired a Silicon Valley startup, JotSpot, which has many web site tools. The goal is to make Google a place for one stop shopping. Google wants people to think Google when it comes to the web.I think competition is good.
This is perhaps why Microsoft is trying to buy Yahoo for $40B but the deal did not go through, at least not yet. The difference between Microsoft’s program and Google’s, is that Microsoft applications are installed in personal computers while Google applications are accessible via the web. Sounds like Google may have a more convenient edge here.
It’s interesting to see where we will be 6 months from now. What ever happened to Netscape?

Lunar eclipse Wednesday, February 20th 10 pm. Washington D.C.
As I was meeting my friend Ford to work on our project, Ford’s brother called to remind us about the eclipse. I am glad he did. Despite of the freezing weather and the wintering mix here in D.C., we were able to see a clear view of the eclipse. As we were standing in the cold admiring the moon, my boyfriend came home from the gym. Which was nice because it’s always good to share special moments with close friends and love ones. So I called my mom.
I wish I had a good camera to capture what we sawed. The eclipse was beautifully pinkish. Almost like a flush of sun kiss color, appropriately so since the the sun illuminate the moon. So this is the best picture I took with my little digital camera. Just imagine this picture x 1000 times more magnificent.
Were you among the lucky ones who got a chance to see the last lunar eclipse before December 2010? I know that there is a scientific explanation that it will be another 3 years before the next one. But does anyone know the 101 version?
What is a Lunar Eclipse?
During an eclipse, the sun, Earth and moon line up, leaving a darkened moon visible to observers on the night side of the planet.
When does Lunar Eclipse occur?
A total lunar eclipse occurs when the full moon passes into Earth’s shadow and is blocked from the sun’s rays that normally illuminate it.
